So I won the Director of the Year 2012!
So I won the Institute of Directors - Zimbabwe ( IODZ), Director of the Year 2012 Award. What an occasion it was, a year to remember.
So what is the selection criteria for one to win such an accolade?
According to IODZ website,:
The Director of the Year Awards were introduced by the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IoDZ) in 2005 to celebrate and recognise achievements by individuals in Zimbabwe who would have distinguished themselves as board directors. The awards seek to especially celebrate and recognise their individual contribution to their boards' effectiveness, company direction, strategy and good corporate citizenship.

- A director of a company or organisation. By 'director', the IoDZ means a person who sits on the Board of Directors of a company or organisation as a Non-Executive or Executive Board Member
- Not less than five years experience as a director
- A person of integrity. In this context, integrity refers to the ethical conduct of a candidate in business and outside business
- Exhibit Organisational Direction Setting
- Organisational Vision, Mission and Values: State their organisational vision, mission and values and indicate personal contribution to their formulation or improvement
- Organisational Strategy: Outline their individual contribution to the strategy formulation
- Organisational Control and Oversight
- State their perception of the effectiveness of the control and oversight systems in their organisation and their individual contribution in that regard
- Addressing Organisational Risk: Outline how their organisation addressed risk during the period under review and their individual contribution in that regard
- Embracing Corporate Governance Principles
- Give a summary of the extent to which their organisation has embraced the core principles of good corporate governance such as transparency, accountability, fairness and responsibility and their individual influence in that regard.
